How product search works
VerifyProduct.ng allows users to search for available product registration information using either a product name or a NAFDAC registration number.
When you submit a search, the platform compares your query with the product information available in its database. If matching records are found, the platform presents the information associated with those records.
The purpose of the search is to make available registration information easier to access and understand. A search result should therefore be treated as information to help you assess a product, rather than as a replacement for official regulatory verification.
Available search methods
There are two main ways to search for a product on VerifyProduct.ng. Choose the method that matches the information available to you.
Search by product name
Enter the name of the product or brand you want to find. This method is useful when you want to discover available records for a product.
Search by NAFDAC number
Enter the NAFDAC registration number printed on the product packaging to look for a matching registration record.
Searching by product name
Product-name search is useful when you know the name of a product but do not have its NAFDAC registration number available.
Enter the product name into the search field and submit the query. The platform then looks for available records that match the information in your search.
Product names can sometimes appear in different forms. A product may have a brand name, a generic name, a variation in spelling, or additional information such as dosage or product type. If your first search does not return the expected result, try another relevant part of the product name.
Search tip
If you do not get the result you expect, try a shorter or more specific part of the product name. You can also search using the NAFDAC number if it is printed on the packaging.
Searching by NAFDAC registration number
A NAFDAC registration number is the registration identifier associated with a product record. When the number is available on the product packaging, you can use it as your search query.
Enter the number as it appears on the product packaging and submit the search. VerifyProduct.ng will look for a corresponding record in the available product information.
A matching result can help you compare information such as the product name, manufacturer and registration number with the information printed on the product.
Important
The presence of a NAFDAC number on packaging does not by itself prove that the physical product is genuine. A number should be checked against the available product information and, where necessary, confirmed through appropriate official channels.
What happens when you search?
When you submit a search, the platform processes your query and checks the available product records. The basic process can be understood in four stages.
Your query is submitted
The product name or NAFDAC registration number you enter is submitted for searching.
Available records are checked
The platform compares your query with the product information available in the VerifyProduct.ng database.
Matching information is displayed
If a matching record is available, the platform displays the relevant product information and verification status.
You review the information
Compare the information shown with the information available on the product and consider the verification status before deciding what further action may be necessary.
Information you may see in a result
Depending on the available product record, a search result may contain several pieces of information about the product.
Product name
The product name associated with the available record.
NAFDAC number
The NAFDAC registration number associated with the product record.
Manufacturer
The manufacturer information available for the product record.
Product category
The category associated with the product, where that information is available.
When a matching record is found
A matching record means that the information entered in your search corresponds with information available in the VerifyProduct.ng product database.
Review the returned information carefully. Where available, compare the product name, NAFDAC registration number, manufacturer and other displayed details with the information on the physical product.
What a match tells you
A match indicates that corresponding product information is available in the platform's database. It gives you information to compare and review.
When no matching record is found
A search may return no matching record. This means that the platform did not find a corresponding record for the information you searched.
A missing result should not automatically be interpreted as proof that a product is fake. The result may be affected by differences in spelling, product information, database coverage or other factors.
If you cannot find a product, try checking the spelling of the product name or entering the NAFDAC registration number printed on the packaging.
No result does not automatically mean counterfeit
If a product cannot be found, do not rely on the search result alone to make a final determination about the product. Consider checking the information again and using appropriate official regulatory channels where necessary.
When multiple results appear
A product-name search may return more than one result. This can happen when different product records contain similar or related names.
When multiple results are displayed, do not select a result based only on the product name. Review the other available information, especially the NAFDAC number and manufacturer, and compare those details with the product you have.

Search result vs. physical product authenticity
It is important to understand the difference between finding a product record and confirming the authenticity of a particular physical product.
VerifyProduct.ng provides access to available product information. A matching record can help you compare information, but it does not independently inspect the physical product in your possession.
Packaging, batch information, manufacturing details, storage conditions and other factors may require additional checks that cannot be established through a database search alone.
Use search as an information check
Treat the result as one part of your product-checking process. If something about the product appears inconsistent or suspicious, consider using the appropriate official regulatory channels for further verification or reporting.

For a more careful product check, use the following workflow.
Locate the product name and NAFDAC registration number on the packaging.
Search using the NAFDAC number where it is available.
Compare the returned product information with the information on the physical product.
If the information does not match or you have concerns, do not rely on the database result alone.
Use appropriate official regulatory channels when further verification or reporting is required.
