When should you report a product?
Consider reporting a product when there are signs that something may be wrong with the product, its packaging, its registration information, or the circumstances in which it is being sold.
Registration information does not match
The product details or NAFDAC number appear inconsistent with the information you found.
The product appears suspicious
The packaging, label, seal, spelling, printing, or other details appear unusual or inconsistent.
Possible counterfeit product
You have reasonable concerns that a product may not have originated from the stated manufacturer.
Possible unregistered product
A product is being sold with registration information that cannot be confirmed through the available information.
Before you report
A verification result alone does not establish that a product is counterfeit or unsafe. Before making a report, carefully check the available information and record what you observed.
Check the product name and manufacturer.
Check the NAFDAC registration number printed on the package.
Compare the available registration information with the product.
Check the packaging for obvious inconsistencies or unusual markings.
Keep the product packaging and receipt where possible.
Record where and when the product was purchased.
Information to collect
Useful information can help a regulator or other appropriate authority understand what happened and investigate the product.
Product name
The exact name printed on the product or package.
NAFDAC number
The registration number printed on the package, if available.
Manufacturer
The manufacturer or company name shown on the product.
Batch or lot number
The batch, lot, or production number where available.
Expiry date
The expiry or best-before date shown on the product.
Purchase information
Where and when you purchased the product.
Description of concern
A clear description of what appeared unusual or suspicious.
Preserve useful evidence
If it is safe and practical to do so, preserve information that may help explain the issue.
Packaging
Keep the original packaging where possible.
Purchase record
Keep receipts or other purchase information.
Photos
Photographs may help document visible packaging concerns.

Do not assume that a product is genuine simply because it has a NAFDAC number.
Do not assume that a product is counterfeit based only on a search result.
Do not alter or destroy the product if it may be needed for investigation.
Do not continue using a product that you believe may be unsafe without seeking appropriate professional or regulatory guidance.

For suspected falsified, counterfeit, unsafe, or otherwise problematic regulated products, reports should be directed to the appropriate regulatory authority or official reporting channel.
